Have realised that I haven't posted an update in a while and have missed a few Moonie Music Mondays and Sailor Moon Roundups so thought all you faithful readers deserved an explanation for the lack of updates.

Basically real life has just gotten in the way. Family relationships, romantic relationships, current work and deciding what career I want to pursue next year, living arrangements, social obligations and just general life issues have been taking up a lot of my time lately which is strange because you'd think holidays would be more relaxing.

While I'm not the kind of person who bares one's soul online (and I doubt you'd want to hear it anyway) I'm pretty excited about my recent career decision. Still not sure about staying in Japan or moving back to Sydney, Australia (both of which I love) but I've decided to study to be a yoga instructor! I finally know what I want to be! Yay for me!

Anyway, stay with me. Now that I'm back at work and on a regular schedule again, expect the Sailor Moon News Roundup to start again this Friday (in two days) and the Moonie Music Mondays to be up and running again next week.

Thanks to everyone who has emailed me with all the great site feedback these last few weeks. Getting an email from a fan really helps motivate website owners to keep doing what we're doing. Just remember my name isn't "Moonkitty" or "Sailor Moon". It's "Brad". ;)

Sailor Moon on Cartoon Network? The Sailor Moon Roundup

I received an email the other day saying the following: "I heard on the TV during a game of football it say ed sailor moon coming back to Cartoon Network on Saturdays nights in November." While I think this is 100% fake (why would Cartoon Network advertise Sailor Moon during a football game??? + the rights to Sailor Moon are still unresolved) I may as well ask, did anyone else see this commercial. Again I know this is most likely fake news/rumour but you never know.

In other news:

Chibiland has her badges up for sale. Supplies are limited so hurry!

SailorCosmos.org has several rather large updates. Possibly a new layout (?) or is it just me.

BSSMLA has some great photos from Otakon 2008. Well worth a look.

The official site has a new chapter of the manga up for Japanese animated viewing.

Genvid has some Sailor Moon comics up on their front page.

Speaking of Genvid, their forums has a cool post collecting the new Google Street View shots of different Sailor Moon related locations in Tokyo. Well worth a look even if just to check out this new feature. Personally I find it cool but a little surprising. Even my country hometown of Orange in NSW, Australia has Google Street View!

Also on the same forums a fan is creating a Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (live action) game for the Nintendo Wii! Check it out here

It's been a pretty good week for Sailor Moon fandom! Heaps of sites updating!

After Chibiland's 7th Anniversary last month, Serenitatis.com is preparing for her 11th Anniversary next month and NeoNobility just turned 7 in February and is contemplating a layout change and some new revamped site features!

UsagiandMamoruUniverse.com who is also celebrating her 7th year online, has added some great new icons and fanart to accompany that new layout! (If you haven't seen it check it out!)

The aforementioned Chibiland has a photo of some cool badges featuring her Chibi artwork. Am I the only one who would love to buy some of those?

The Oracle has just added oh.... just a few screencaps.... ONLY 3,414!!!! Nice!

Ballads and Bows has some new song reviews up.

Innocent-Ami.com is still amazing me with her new layout.

Genvid has some cool news about Toei and a possible development of the Sailor Moon anime (and Sailor Stars) getting a re-release through online download. Still nothing confirmed but a story worth following.

The Official Sailor Moon Site has updated it's layout for August and features the Outers and Mini Moon in Yukata ready for Summer Festivals which are happening right now in Japan. I love how that website's layout is seasonal. As well as the layout, a new game and the Mailbox have been updated.

And finally, The Deep Submerge Awards are open for nominations! I'll be submitting my favourite sites this afternoon for nomination. What Sailor Moon sites will you nominate?

Harry Potter and Sailor Moon: Moonie Music Monday

Attention all Harry Potter fans (which I'm assuming would be a large percentage of you) J.K. Rowling in conjunction with Amazon.com is releasing a real copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard the book that was pivotal to the plot of the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!!!

There'll be two versions released on the 4th of December 2008 (preorders now being taken!) a Standard Edition and a very cool Collector's Edition.

The Standard Edition features all five fairy tales from the original The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a new introduction by J.K. Rowling, illustrations reproduced from the original handcrafted book, and commentary on each of the tales by Professor Albus Dumbledore.

The Collector's Edition (which I'm so buying) is designed to evoke the spirit of the handcrafted original. It is housed in its own case (made to resemble a wizarding textbook found in the Hogwarts library). The Collector's Edition includes a reproduction of J.K. Rowling's handwritten introduction, as well as 10 additional illustrations not found in the Standard Edition. Opening the cover of the case reveals a velvet bag embroidered with J.K. Rowling's signature, in which sits the piece de resistance: your very own copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, complete with metal skull, corners, and clasp; replica gemstones; and emerald ribbon.

Excited? I know I am!

In celebration of this release (and my Harry Potter geekiness) I'm dedicating this week's Moonie Music Monday to Harry Potter and Sailor Moon!

Doing a YouTube search I came across these two hillarious movie trailers that use the sound from the trailers of the first two Harry Potter movies and footage from the first two seasons of the Sailor Moon anime. Incredibly well timed and really hillarious. My personal favourite shot is the "Place your hand over the broom and say 'UP!'" "Up!" Haha. Enjoy!

Kirari-PGSM.net has posted information on some Sailor Moon related panels at this year's Otakon!

My Parents and Anime panel will be first thing Friday morning at 9am, Panel 2.

Lilly-chan’s Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Fan Panel will be 2pm Friday in Panel 1.

In addition, Lilly-chan’s Naoko Takeuchi Panel will be 5pm Friday in Workshop 1.

And, the two Kappei Yamaguchi (Artemis’s voice) Q&A sessions will be 4pm Friday in Panel 4 and 2pm Saturday in Panel 4.

It's been a bit of a slow news week this week but that's not to say it hasn't been interesting!

Chibiland is doing an amazing job adding even more Chibi Dolls to her already massive collection. I've decided to create a page for the five I'm adopting. Which five will I choose? Stay tuned!

Surprise! My secret project that I've been working on in secret for the past few months is now online! Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Sailor Moon Musical (Sera Myu) First Stage Performance Guide!!!

In addition to the first musical guide which I had written last year (and has now been cleaned up) I've now added a whopping six more to the new Sailor Moon Musical (Sera Myu) page.

I can't stress how much time went into these guides and I can now understand why no Sailor Moon sites ever have actual story summaries / guides to the Sailor Moon Musicals as most of them have a runtime of over 2 hours! which makes the whole process of watching one, writing the summary, taking the screencaps, resizing the images and making them pretty about 5+ hours each!

The rest of this week I'll be going through each one and adding bits of information here and there and making the whole thing just a bit more spiffy.

The Sailor Moon musicals (Sera Myu) has to be one of the less viewed versions of Sailor Moon and the main reason is that there's very little information about them. Hopefully this guide will make the fantastic Sailor Moon musicals more approachable and encourage a lot of new fans to give them a go.

Chibiland has uploaded some more great chibi dolls! Now to decide which 5 I want!!! Gah! Too hard!

Sailor Moon R Episodes Done!

Have just done a big redesign on the Sailor Moon R Episode Guide with some added information, images and the episode guide for every Sailor Moon R episode!

I don't want to say it's complete as I still need to add shopping info for each episode as well as do guides for the openings and closings, etc but the summaries and screencaps for every episode (including the missing episode!) are done!

Sailor Stars Dub Update

Sorry about missing that Moonie Music Monday! I was so busy working on other parts of the site I forgot about it! My bad!

But to make it up to I'd like to share with you this preview clip of the upcoming Sailor Stars fandub! It looks and sounds incredible with several voices (Serena, Amy, Tomoe, Rini and Lita especially) sounding very close to the English dub version!

Word is that the first few episodes will be released very soon.

Kirari-PGSM.net has done several new site updates whith some great avatars, video clips and more coming online this week!

If you're interested in following the live action Sailor Moon's Sailor Mercury, a new fansite has just opened and looks very promising.

ShadowGalactica.com has updated with several screenshot updates.

UsagiandMamoruUniverse.com is trying, in futile, (hehehe) to make more avatars than me. Good luck! ;) (Seriously, they're good, check them out!)
The site's also added some video clips and has been reviewed!

Chibiland has a nice page dedicated to it's 7th Anniversary which is really fun to read and has also uploaded several more chibi dolls!

For those that missed my report earlier this week; Kodansha will begin publishing manga in the US in September by themselves. This could well explain why they've been holding onto the Sailor Moon manga rights and could very well mean that we may finally be getting English translations of the new reprinted Sailor Moon manga! Pretty exciting! Still no updates to report concerning this though.

And as I mentioned yesterday, my Sailor Moon Season One Episode Guide / Summary has been completed! In the next week or so, I'm aiming for my Sailor Moon R Episode Guide to be finished in a similar fashion and then I'll go about finishing all the attacks and DVD reviews while I begin work on the Sailor Moon S Episode Guide and prepare a nice big surprise for everyone (I'll never tell!).

I've also begun planning Moonkitty.NET's 10th Anniversary which begins in April 2009 (nine months away!). I've got several exciting things planned for the site (10 years is pretty big!) and am thinking about throwing a real world party here in Tokyo (maybe Azabu Juban?) for any Sailor Moon fans who are in the neighbourhood and of course documenting it online with videos and pictures, etc.

Moonie Reflection: Sailor Moon Roundup

First the Sailor Moon website updates:

The Japanese Official Sailor Moon site has uploaded Act 3 of the Sailor Moon S arc of the manga.

Kirari-PGSM has uploaded some more media, opened the Wiki for public editing and is getting ready for some Sailor Moon panels.

Chibiland continues to celebrate her 7th anniversary with some new cards, awards and promises of new Chibi Dolls (I grabbed one myself and you can see it in the bottom right side of the nav menu).

UsagiandMamoruUniverse.com has resorted some fan arts.

The Sailor Stars Fandub now has a chat box and the release of the first episode is coming very soon apparently. I can't wait for this.

And now my soapbox:

Miyuki Kanbe's passing is still rocking the Sailor Moon community with several updates occurring throughout the week. Instead of making a new post for each update though, I've decided to simply update the original post.

To all the Sailor Moon sites who have written heartfelt posts about how much Miyuki will be remembered and offers prayers for her friends and family, I salute you...

...but to the Sailor Moon website who emailed all members and used Miyuki's death to guilt fans into helping a fan project, shame on you. You know who you are as do your visitors and personally your whole community just lost a lot of respect from me, and I'm sure many others.
