I have been flat out with work and am in the middle of a 14 day work marathon so have postponed announcing the winner of the PGSM CD + Book competition until around the 18th. I want to do something special for the announcement and just don’t have the time right now to do that. Hope you understand!
Hey! How’s your week going? Been doing some more layout fiddling here and there, trying to streamline the whole site a bit more. Work in progress! I really like the circle Twitter and RSS buttons to the left. Not sure why but circles are cool.
Tokyopop recently tweeted in reply to Sailor Moon: “I wish we could reprint Sailor Moon! If we could, we would, believe you me!” Guess we won’t be seeing a manga reprint from them anytime soon. Possibly from Kodansha themselves though.
HUGE WEEK IN SAILOR MOON NEWS! Toei has started celebrating Sailor Moon’s 20th Anniversary and has announced brand new season DVD box sets for every season of the Sailor Moon anime! You can read more about this huge event in my original news post but if you just want to cut right to it and pre-order your limited edition box sets you can get the first box here and the second box here. Amazon.co.jp is offering a huge 26% OFF for pre-orders on these boxes so they’re well worth a look. Personally I pre-ordered mine yesterday from them.
Something else that’s got me hyped is this preview of the Sailor Stars fan dub! It’s a perfect example of why I think the DiC music cues work better (as much as I love the Japanese music). Can’t wait for this fourth episode.
It’s Friday again so that means Moon Sticks has a new strip online! This week features two of my favourite characters Alan and Anne (Ail and Anne)!
I was surfing around YouTube and found this fantastic clip someone made that mixes the voices from the English version of Sailor Moon S but adds the DiC music cues from the first two seasons and OMG it works really well! Again I love the Japanese music but the DiC music just makes it seem so much more exciting! Someone who commented on the video made an interesting point that thet DiC music cue works with the English voice actors and the Japanese music cues work better with the Japanese VAs. What do you think?
And speaking of fan edits! Check out this new preview for a fan project that mixes existing anime footage extremely well to make a brand new storyline! Looks very promising!

Strangely enough, even though the Sailor Moon anime finished about 10 years ago, this year has shown some huge activity in Sailor Moon fan productions!
The first one I found was Sailor Moon & the Return of the Shadows which is using green screen to make some full on cg scenes! They don’t seem to have a website, only the YouTube page unfortunately so there’s not much info available.
The next one I found was The Last Soldier by Fairydust Productions. They’ve got some very cool costumes, direction and special effects going on and a very interesting storyline!
Can’t wait!
The third one I found really surprised me! It’s a Sailor Mars Series that’s already up to it’s second episode! It’s based on the live action Sailor Moon series and continues the story of Sailor Mars using great special effects (ckeck out the transformation scene!!!), music and filming techniques that mimic the official series really closely! 5 stars!

In other Sailor Moon fandom news, Moon Sticks has her latest comic up, this time featuring the Amazon Trio!
And the fantastic Stars Fan Dub has their second adaption of Sailor Stars online! This project is BRILLIANT! If you haven’t checked it out, do so now! Seriously, if Sailor Stars never gets dubbed officially I’d be more than happy to see these guys do it!
Moonkitty.net got three new affiliates this week; Star Dusting, Izumirika.com & Ayaka502.net! The later of which reports that Ayaka (PGSM’s Venus) and Keiko (PGSM’s Mars) will be starring together in a new Japanese tv drama! Keiko’s role seems to be one of the main roles (she’s HUGE now in Japan!) while Ayaka’s seems to be in more of an extra role. The show is called “Buzzer Beat ～ Gakeppuchi no Hero ～” or “Buzzer Beat ～ Hero on the Edge ～” and will air at 9pm Mondays starting in July.
What else happened this week? Ah, that’s right! The Official Sailor Moon Site updated with a new layout, game and mailbag. Interesting to note that one of the letters was from a non-Japanese person. Unfortunately the content itself was not so interesting.

Nah, just kidding. but wouldn’t it be great? Seriously though, every day I expect some anime news site to break the news about a new Sailor Moon anime series. With all these old series getting relaunched or turned into movies, the time just seems so right for a new version of Sailor Moon to pop up. Why hasn’t it happened yet? Most likely due to the copyrights being held up in Japan by Toei and possibly Naoko Takeuchi herself.
It really is only a matter of time though. Did you know next year will be 10 years since the final episode of Sailor Stars (Episode 200) aired? Fingers crossed!
There’s a possibility of The Deep Submerge Directory hosting a massive Sailor Moon website awards! Interested? Head on over there and mention how great it would be in the guestbook!!! Something like this would really motivate Sailor Moon webmasters and reinvigorate the Moonie community!

SeraMyu Antics has a brand new domain name, www.SeraMyuAntics.net! It’s an excellent site full of Sailor Moon musical goodness! Check it out!
SailorMoonCards.eu has completely revamped their site and updated some content too!
Gaia Online has now added several other colour themed schoolgirl outfits to help all Sailor Moon fans cosplay their avatars into any Sailor Scout they wish! The February exclusive donation item though holds the mascot, heart wand, background bubbles and Super Bow.
In site news I’ve been cleaning up the Affiliates once more so those sites that haven’t updated within the last 356 days have been removed from the side menu. They are however in the links page. If you have been removed from the side and you’ve just updated your site, email me to let me know you’re active again and I’ll re-add you.
Again a reminder for all new affiliate applications I am now going by a new policy that Moonkitty.NET must be linked to on EVERY PAGE of your site. Not just the splash page or links page. Speaking of splash pages, I will no longer link to these as I feel they waste visitors’ time so instead I will link to the pages they lead too. Please let’s leave splash pages in the early 90s where they belong.

In other site news, I’ve started work on the Sailor Moon R episode guide so expect some growth there in the next few days and am plotting out how to do my Sailor Moon Musical guide.
I’m also experimenting with a new program (I was invited to join the Beta testing! Yay!) called ShoppingAds to help cover expenses. You can see the result on the left hand side menu with the Sailor Moon items up for grabs. I’m surprised with the amount of cool products on display actually. The new Affiliate rule that I mentioned last week has been implemented. Those sites that haven’t been updated within the last 364 days have been removed from the side menu though they are still linked in the Web Links page. It just seemed unfair to be offering these sites such high exposure when their sites are offline, broken or static since 2003.
If you’re the owner of one of the removed sites, simply update your site and email me to let me know and I’ll place your site back on the menu with the rest.

Have been cleaning up the site a bit and have decided to implement a new policy regarding Moonkitty.NET’s affiliates.
While I love you all, from now on if your site hasn’t been updated within the last 365 days I will remove the small button on the right hand menu. Don’t worry though, your site will still be linked with all the other affiliates in the Links Page. It just seems unfair to give free advertising to sites that are no longer updated when there are more active ones that deserve more exposure.
Again, I love all my affiliates (and the webmasters and webmistresses of course!) so I hope this doesn’t offend anyone. Besides a whole year to update a site (even if it’s just a message on the main page to say you’re not dead) isn’t asking too much.
I will begin sifting through affiliates in the next day or so. If I do remove your site from the side menu and you update your site, just email me, letting me know and I’ll place your link up again.
In other site news, I’ve added the gift Icera gave me for finishing my live action guide to the Gifts and Awards Page and begun cleaning up the attack guide.
I also added a Site Search powered by Google to the lower right corner for those who may be having trouble finding the page they’re after and changed the Quick Links to Weekly Features to tell people about the Sailor Moon Roundup and Moonie Music Monday weekly events.

First up is a rather cool site I found that features a virtual Sailor Moon that you can talk to! It’s actually really very cool! You can type in anything and she’ll reply (for the most part) on topic! I typed in “I went to school today” for example, and she replied “Did you learn anything useful?” It’s surprisingly addictive! You may have noticed our new cool pink site feed button and rewritten intro text at the top of the page! Quite a few people couldn’t find our site feed so I decided to make it more in your face. If you find these posts useful and want to stay up to date with all the latest Sailor Moon news give the feed a go.
The trendiest Sailor Moon website directory on the web, Deep Submerge has updated it’s listings once again. No Site of the Month this week but the news of a revamp has me very excited!
AnimeonDVD has a report from Anime Central 2007 that mentions “Toei currently has a lockdown on all Sailor Moon licenses, but Geneon may be interested if the situation changes.”. This is very cool though it’s also been said that Mixx is interested in releasing the Sailor Moon manga as well but nothing can happen because of Toei either. Come on Toei! Give us what we want!
The music video site, Tsuki Mubi has updated with several bits of info converning YouTube and a contest update.
Anyone who hasn’t checked out the new Sailor Moon site, SailorWar.net should do so. Some very well written content there.
Chibiland has updated by removing their splash page! Woo Hoo! Here’s hoping all the other webmasters follow suit!
In Closing… The Official Sailor Moon Website has done a complete overhaul. Very pink and very flashy now. For those that haven’t been following the site, the whole manga series is being animated into flash with music and sound effects. Still in Japanese though
