Where to Buy Sailor Moon Merchandise in Tokyo Japan and Moonkitty.net goes Carbon Neutral

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Serenity and Endymion Have been doing some pretty cool updates these past 24 hours. First of all I’ve answered two more Moonie Mailbag questions, “Where can I buy Sailor Moon merchandise in Tokyo, Japan?” and “What does Sailor Pluto’s skin tone mean?”!

Hope you all enjoy the answers. If you’ve submitted a question that hasn’t been answered yet, don’t worry. I’ve saved them all in a special folder in my inbox and where can i buy sailor moon merchandise in japan? will get to them when I have the time.

In other site news, I’ve been doing a bit of fiddling with the layout, added some more fine print in the hopes of discouraging any future instances of piracy of Moonkitty.net’s content, brought the donate button back (am in a bit of financial trouble. Taxes, taxes and more taxes!) and finally…. FINALLY added Moonkitty.net to Facebook!!! You can see the box on the lower right nav with links to “like” MKNET or you can click on the link posted just a few words ago. ;) Am pretty excited about the Facebook page. In just half a day we already have 49 people liking! The MKNETFB page is a great way to contact me and I’ve also enabled the Discussion Forum on the page so those missing the ol’ forums from back in the day should feel right at home here.

Now something I’m really excited carbon neutral shopping offers, coupons with kaufDA.de about is making Moonkitty.net Carbon Neutral!. I spent several hours trying to find a program to cancel the emissions of running a website and came across this great program.

It’s completely free to join and I would love to encourage all website owners and bloggers to make their own sites carbon neutral as well! All you have to do is write a blog post about this initiative and email them about it and you’re done!

Sailor Moon and her friends saved the world in the series, now we can too!

Sailor Moon Website Updates: Sailor Moon Roundup

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Sailor Mini Chibi Moon, Rini, Small Lady, Chibi Usa, Sailor Moon Manga It’s been a pretty busy week online for Sailor Moon websites! Heaps of people updating with lots of fresh new content! So great to see Sailor Moon fans so active!

  • There’s some awesome cut scenes of the upcoming fan project Sailor Moon Sacrifice. I can’t imagine how long they must have spent on these scenes!

  • Remember all those rainbow coloured moonkitties from the 1990′s Sailor Moon fansites? Someone’s made stuffed toys of them! Illegal but I want! :D

  • Family of Moonlight has so much content online! Check out there interviews with other Sailor Moon fans!

  • I stumbled across this Sailor Moon Keychain earlier this week. Have you ever seen something so cute?

  • In site news I’ve cleaned up the Sailor Moon R Episode Guide. All the text should be properly spaced now and all the correct shopping information added. I also finished all the missing Monster of the Day bits for every episode. You may also have noticed that I rewrote the fine print at the bottom of the site. This was due to a recent issue I had with someone who decided to steal content from Moonkitty.net and actually sell it (I won’t mention names as the issue has been resolved). If you see any content from Moonkitty.net being reproduced elsewhere please let me know.

  • I’m loving the new look for my favourite Kaitou Ace shrine.

  • The always awesome Deep Submerge Directory has a new look and has brought back the Site of the Month! WOO HOO!!!

  • Do you like Sailor Moon and Star Trek? Check this out! Or are you interested in seeing the Sailor Moon characters dressed in traditional Korean dress? (thanks to SMObss)

  • The first ep of the Sailor Stars Fandub can now be viewed on the iPhone / iPod.

  • Heard rumours that Sailor Moon has cameoed on today’s Futurama! Will report back asap with confirmation as soon as I see it!

  • What are the Biggest Sailor Moon Ripoffs?

    Monday, March 29th, 2010

sailor moon ripoff, pretty cure Hey guys! Was just answering a Moonie Mailbag question about Sailor Moon ripoffs (see my answer here) and was thinking while I think I listed all the big ones I’m sure I’m missing a few (or even heaps) of others.

So I put this to you: What do you think are the biggest Sailor Moon ripoffs?

Comment on this post. Let’s start a discussion! What do you think about Sailor Moon ripoffs? Do you like any?

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News.
Here it is everyone! Your chance to win a mint condition Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon CD & Book set from Japan!

The CD features several hits from the show such as Kirari Sailor Dream, Over Rainbow Road, C’est la Vie and MORE! The book is a hard card paged childrens book which should look great in any collection. Here’s a photo of the set!

What do you have to do to win this prize? Well I thought I might use this competition to really spread the Sailor Moon love online and maybe even get some new Sailor Moon fans or revive someone’s fandom in the process!

Soooo…. I want you to log into Twitter and make a tweet that contains the following:

    I love Sailor Moon because _________ @moonkittynet

Naturally replace the _____ with your reason for loving the series and don’t forget to add “@moonkittynet” at the end of your tweet so I can track your entry!

I will choose the winning tweet based on it’s humor, originality or personality. Basically whatever makes it stand above the rest.

Competition will close a month from now on the 17th of February. You can enter as many times as you want because the winner will be chosen by quality over quantity.

Have fun and spread the Moonie love!!!

    Good luck!

    Happy New Year!

    Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News.
Happy New Year 2010! Yes it’s been a while but as those of you who follow my Twitter account know, I was suffering from a major wrist injury (bruised the joint and ripped the cartilage) which pretty much prevented me from writing anything over 140 characters long without screaming in pain and doubling over.

This is why I love Twitter! It allowed me to stay in touch with quite a few of you guys even when I was unable to update the site.

Speaking of Twitter, Interesting stats: 22% of you guys are guys, 78% are girls. 95% of you love RTing me (thanks!) & most are from US and Canada.

Got those stats from here if you’re interested. They forgot to mention that 100% of you are fabulous!

That’s interesting as on the MKNET main site there are a lot more Australians, Kiwis and Germans and also a few from Japan (besides myself).

Anyway as a consequence of my wrist injury I fell seriously behind in the Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Anime Episode Guide which I was hoping to have finished by the end of the holidays. Am definitely aiming to get it done by March. I’ve also got some great Moonie Mailbag Sailor Moon Questions in my inbox to be answered and will most likely get round to them this Sunday. Keep sending them in guys! I will answer them all, don’t worry! If you haven’t seen the Moonie Mailbag yet, you should check it out. Lots of content to read on a rainy day.

If you haven’t been here in a while, you should also check out my review of the new Japanese Sailor Moon anime box set. This weekend I’ll be updating it with screencaps from the DVDs so stay tuned!

I’ve also uploaded a lot of new Sailor Moon wallpapers to the Downloads section which are well worth checking out. There’s also a HUGE collection of avatars & icons there if you want to change your avatar for the new year.

In Moonie news, nothing really big officially. Still no news of a new anime series from Japan or a new English redub let alone a rerelease of the series on DVD or Bluray in Region 1 or 4. The anime will be reairing in Italy next month though and Naoko Takeuchi will be drawing some new artwork for the Italians!!! That’s pretty amazing and I think the first time she has drawn artwork exclusively for a company outside of Japan.

The official site has updated for the new year, but unlike last year’s January update there’s no message from Naoko. Interesting now though in retrospect that when Naoko in January 2009 said that 2009 would be an interesting year for Sailor Moon she must have been talking about the new DVDs and the anime’s reairing on Animax in Japan.

    Meanwhile elsewhere on the web:

  • Dreaming Moon has updated with some new card scans!
  • A Fruitful Spring has a new layout, new scans and lots of updates worth checking out!
  • Moon Sticks has a new strip online!
  • Moon Collection has a great post about a Moon Kingdom play set.
  • Sailor Moon plus Cooking equals crazy.
  • On a side note, I’ve been reading up on Amazon’s Kindle lately and seen there’s a lot of manga on it! Thinking about getting one. Do you have one? Please comment below and let me know if it’s worth getting!

Oh and one last thing before I go…. got another exclusive interview with a Sailor Moon voice actress coming soon!!! ;)

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News. When I was nominated for the Deep Submerge Awards a few months ago I honestly didn’t think that I would win any of the categories simply due to the amazing sites that I was competing against. All the nominees possessed superb design and writing skills and had already proved to be legendary in their own rights and the fact that I was even listed on the same page as them was a huge honour.

Imagine my utter joy this morning when I got an email announcing Moonkitty.NET was the winner in the Best Writing Style category!

I’d like to thank everyone who nominated Moonkitty.NET and voted for my little baby, long time visitors from the days of Artemis The Myth, The Legend, The HERO, new visitors that perhaps just discovered the site this year and everyone who has helped, emailed me or contributed to the site in any way since it came online in 1999.

Thank you everyone and congratulations to all the other winners, runners-up and nominees.

And of course a very special thank you to Icera who planned, organised and ran the entire Deep Submerge Awards. Your efforts and passion for Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon websites never go unnoticed.

Fighting Evil By Moonlight: Sailor Moon Roundup

    Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News. Wow! I just realised I completely forgot a Moonie Music Monday! Really sorry guys! My first ever Kids Yoga classes were on at 9:20am Monday morning in a studio over an hour away and I was just so nervous and excited about it I forgot about the update. I don’t get home until 7:30pm Monday nights and once I got home I used my free time to eat dinner and prepare for my first Tuesday classes the next day which started at 8:45am!!! (Needless to say I was very tired on Wednesday!)

In case you’re interested the classes went really well! Teaching Kids Yoga to kids 3 – 8yr old kids in Japan is so much fun and really rewarding!

To relate this more to Sailor Moon, during my teacher training each teacher had to do a “practice lesson” using a kids yoga lesson plan they wrote themselves. I based a whole class around Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart and it went off! Definitely will be reusing it in one of my real Kids Yoga classes in the near future. I always find using a topic that interests kids to teach them something (be it English or Yoga or something else) really maintains their attention and motivates them to learn. I’ve begun thinking about writing a Sailor Moon themed Kids Yoga lesson plan lately. The show’s values definitely connect to the Yoga value system and the numerous aspects of nature and of course the obvious posing done by the characters makes it a very natural fit for a Yoga lesson theme.

When I write this lesson plan, I’ll definitely post it here for people to use. Are there many teachers, Yogis or parents who read Moonkitty.NET who would be interested in Sailor Moon Yoga lesson plans? Comment on this post if you would like to see this kind of content.

p.s. In other site news, I’ve transferred my site feed to Google so it now has a new address: http://feedproxy.google.com/sailormoon. You don’t need to update you feed programs though as the old address will be forwarded to the new one. If you’re a clean freak like me though you may want to.

Now on with the Sailor Moon Roundup!

  • Moon Collection is a great new Sailor Moon blog well worth subscribing to. Covers the merchandise side of Sailor Moon fandom and is well written with some great pictures!
  • Sailor Tiger’s Grotto has added a new picture.
  • The Sailor Moon Fanlisting is almost up to 10,000 members! If you haven’t joined up, do so and let’s show everyone how popular Sailor Moon is!
  • A new version of Moonlight Soldiers is on the way.
  • SailorCosmos.org has some new content.
  • Senshi Card Mania R has updated about a possible continuation (though also an equal possibility of not continuing). If you’re a fan, check it out.
  • Check out these cool Sailor Galaxia graphics!
  • Sailor Moon Obsession continues to rock with frequent content.
  • Several old school animes coming to film soon have been rather active though still no news of a Live Action Sailor Moon Film. The first teaser for the upcoming CG version of Astro Boy has been released and looks pretty cool. Would you like to see a CG Sailor Moon film? The same guys that made this Astro Boy film made that kick arse Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie. Something tells me they’d do a good job of Sailor Moon (April and Casey looked great!).

The Dragonball Movie is looking pretty cool and word is a He-Man movie, G-Force Movie and a Voltron movie are also in the works.

Of course there’s the second Transformers Movie out next year which is probably my most anticipated film. Strangely enough, while I hated the DBZ anime (and I do mean hated) I’m actually really looking forward to the DB movie. Go figure.

While I’m on a retro kick, if you were born in the 80s you probably saw the Disney movie, Race to Witch Mountain. Well check out the trailer for the remake! Pretty kick arse!

  • Back to Sailor Moon, The Deep Submerge Awards only have two more weeks left to vote for your favourite sites. Don’t forget!
  • Sailor Stars English Dub: Sailor Moon Roundup

    Friday, November 7th, 2008

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News. First of all, sorry about the lack of posts in this past week. I’m actually trying to start up my own Kids Yoga Studio here in Tokyo, so naturally it’s been taking up a lot of my free time. Got any kids in Tokyo? Come on by for a class! ;)

    Anyway back to Sailor Moon!

Great news this week (actually this morning)! The first episode of the Fighter4Luv Sailor Stars English Dub has been released and…. WOW!!! If you have fond memories of watching the DiC English version on tv as a kid you will absolutely love this! Personally I had to keep reminding myself that it was a fandub! Professional voice actors, DiC & Japanese music cues, 3D transitions and…. well just watch it for yourself!

Here are the links. I didn’t embed them here as I normally do because I recommend going to their page at YouTube and clicking on the watch in high quality link under the video.

    English Sailor Stars Part 1
    English Sailor Stars Part 2
    English Sailor Stars Part 3

    In other Sailor Moon news:

  • Kirari-PGSM.net has posted a very thoughtful post about a fellow Sailor Moon fan who needs our help. Read the post about what is needed and what you can do and make sure to check out Sara’s Blog as well and leave a message.

This has me thinking about the possibilities in the Moonie online community and what we can all accomplish. Hmmm…

  • Deep Submerge Awards

    Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News. The nominees for the Deep Submerge Awards have been announced and I’m absolutely thrilled (and honestly surprised!) that my little baby, Moonkitty.NET has been nominated in the three categories: Best Writing Style, Best Use of Images and Best Community Site!

Voting is now underway and open to anyone so head over there, check out the nominees and vote for which Sailor Moon websites you think deserve to win.

    Good luck everyone!

Sailor Moon on Cartoon Network? The Sailor Moon Roundup

    Friday, August 15th, 2008

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News. I received an email the other day saying the following: “I heard on the TV during a game of football it say ed sailor moon coming back to Cartoon Network on Saturdays nights in November.” While I think this is 100% fake (why would Cartoon Network advertise Sailor Moon during a football game??? + the rights to Sailor Moon are still unresolved) I may as well ask, did anyone else see this commercial. Again I know this is most likely fake news/rumour but you never know.

    In other news:

  • Chibiland has her badges up for sale. Supplies are limited so hurry!
  • SailorCosmos.org has several rather large updates. Possibly a new layout (?) or is it just me.
  • BSSMLA has some great photos from Otakon 2008. Well worth a look.
  • The official site has a new chapter of the manga up for Japanese animated viewing.
  • Genvid has some Sailor Moon comics up on their front page.
  • Speaking of Genvid, their forums has a cool post collecting the new Google Street View shots of different Sailor Moon related locations in Tokyo. Well worth a look even if just to check out this new feature. Personally I find it cool but a little surprising. Even my country hometown of Orange in NSW, Australia has Google Street View!
  • Also on the same forums a fan is creating a Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (live action) game for the Nintendo Wii! Check it out here
