It’s been a pretty busy week online for Sailor Moon websites! Heaps of people updating with lots of fresh new content! So great to see Sailor Moon fans so active!

There’s some awesome cut scenes of the upcoming fan project Sailor Moon Sacrifice. I can’t imagine how long they must have spent on these scenes!

Remember all those rainbow coloured moonkitties from the 1990′s Sailor Moon fansites? Someone’s made stuffed toys of them! Illegal but I want!

Family of Moonlight has so much content online! Check out there interviews with other Sailor Moon fans!

I stumbled across this Sailor Moon Keychain earlier this week. Have you ever seen something so cute?

In site news I’ve cleaned up the Sailor Moon R Episode Guide. All the text should be properly spaced now and all the correct shopping information added. I also finished all the missing Monster of the Day bits for every episode. You may also have noticed that I rewrote the fine print at the bottom of the site. This was due to a recent issue I had with someone who decided to steal content from Moonkitty.net and actually sell it (I won’t mention names as the issue has been resolved). If you see any content from Moonkitty.net being reproduced elsewhere please let me know.

I’m loving the new look for my favourite Kaitou Ace shrine.

The always awesome Deep Submerge Directory has a new look and has brought back the Site of the Month! WOO HOO!!!

Naoko Wants to Make a New Sailor Moon Series?

In the last few days several fansites have been reporting Toei showing off Sailor Moon to potential buyers at a recent expo which is great news but isn’t really anything new as we’ve known the rights had been released months ago. As of right now no company seems to have purchased the series for a re-release in English speaking countries however it really is only a matter of time so no-one stress too much.

Something that is worth getting excited about is what Yen-sama from Miss Dream mentions on this topic on Genvid (halfway down the page, look for the bright Venus banner):

Keiko was having lunch with Naoko in January, and Naoko revealed to her that she is interested in doing more Sailor Moon.

The awesome Miss Dream will be subbing a video of this apparently which I eagerly await and will link to asap!

I’ve been thinking for a while now that we’ll be seeing a new form of Sailor Moon in time for the 20th Anniversary (2011 / 2012) and this definitely sounds promising. Really no confirmation right now one way or the other though.

This week’s Moon Sticks is the funniest yet!

Moon Chase did some good research and found that the Sailor Moon manga is back in print in Japan and has outsold Dragonball in at least one store. Exciting news for manga fans. An English rerelease of the Sailor Moon manga is honestly only a matter of time at this point with everything that’s been going on but as of now nothing has been confirmed one way of the other. Fingers crossed though.

German Sailor Moon DVDs Sailor Moon Rights and More!

Well it’s been a very big week. Got some bad news but to counteract that a lot of good news too!

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first so we can end on a good note.

Turns out the person that was impersonating Sarah Lafluer (Sailor Ueranus) was also impersonating Linda Ballantyne (Sailor Moon #3). Pretty shocking, maddening and depressing. This person had even started up a personal blog pretending to be Linda and was posting personal photos, etc. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one fooled. Her Twitter account has been deleted and legal action has been taken.

I would like to remind everyone that impersonating celebrities is not cool. It hurts the person you’re impersonating and also hurts the fans. If you are using a Sailor Moon voice actor, actor, singer, etc’s name for your username on any site please change it. Even if you’re convinced that you’re doing it for the star, it’s illegal, is a crime, hurts the person you’re impersonating and also confuses fans and websites alike.

Now on to the good news!!!

Toei is officially selling the rights to Sailor Moon! This is a HUGE step in getting Sailor Moon back to English speaking countries! Whether you want a redub, a resub, a remastered rerelease of the existing dub or all of the above (like me!) this is very good news. Here’s hoping someone buys it!

Speaking of Sailor Moon being rereleased around the world, SailorMoonWorld.it reports that a German magazine mentioned that German companies are now after the rights to rerelease the series on DVD in Germany. Great news for German fans (which I know there are a few of who read Moonkitty.net!).

The hilarious Sailor Moon Hell is back! Really funny stuff!

A fantastic fan just told me about this new Sailor Moon fan film and it looks absolutely amazing! How has noone ever heard of this project? Just look at this trailer! Can’t wait for this!

Sailor Moon Event & Roundup

Well I didn’t end up winning tickets to the special DVD promotional event held in Japan this last Sunday but doesn’t look like I missed out on that much. From what I’ve heard nothing major was announced and it was pretty much your typical Japanese interview panel.

All five Japanese voice actresses for the Inners appeared as did Naoko Takeuchi. Surprisingly though the voice actresses were interviewed more than the creator of the series.

You can see some photos here from the event.

Speaking of the DVD, my box set should be arriving now at any minute! so expect my DVD review with screencaps, photos and comparisons very soon!!!

Hey! How’s your week going? Been doing some more layout fiddling here and there, trying to streamline the whole site a bit more. Work in progress! I really like the circle Twitter and RSS buttons to the left. Not sure why but circles are cool.

Also created a Shopping Guide for the new Japanese Sailor Moon DVD Box Sets so make sure to check that out.

I also cleaned up all the pages in the purple website section. Mmmm…. tidiness.

I also just renewed the domain name for another year! YEAH!

The fantastic German Sailor Moon fan film, The Last Soldier has just uploaded a very cool new teaser for the film. I seriously can’t wait for this!

They’ve also posted a great post on their blog (in English AND German!) with some great posters and photos! Seriously looks incredible!!!

Earlier this week I found this great image of Fisheye. Who knew Fisheye could look so hot as a man?

Tokyopop recently tweeted in reply to Sailor Moon: “I wish we could reprint Sailor Moon! If we could, we would, believe you me!” Guess we won’t be seeing a manga reprint from them anytime soon. Possibly from Kodansha themselves though.

Sailor Moon Roundup

Welcome to the Sailor Moon Roundup everyone! Hope you’ve had a great week and a good weekend planned!

Kodansha has pretty much confirmed that they’re self publishing in the US now for most of their series. Several existing licenses will still be released by other companies like Del Rey though. No news yet on the Sailor Moon manga, but everyone’s expecting something soon especially with the DVDs being rereleased.

The latest Moon Sticks is also up featuring Aluminum Siren and Eternal Sailor Moon.

You MUST check out the new layout for The SMFFG. HILARIOUS!

A trailer for Sailor Moon and the Return of the Shadows is online. Looking forward to the finished product!!!

I thought this was cool. I love it when Sailor Moon fans get creative.

Go! Go! Sailor Moon Roundup!

HUGE WEEK IN SAILOR MOON NEWS! Toei has started celebrating Sailor Moon’s 20th Anniversary and has announced brand new season DVD box sets for every season of the Sailor Moon anime! You can read more about this huge event in my original news post but if you just want to cut right to it and pre-order your limited edition box sets you can get the first box here and the second box here. Amazon.co.jp is offering a huge 26% OFF for pre-orders on these boxes so they’re well worth a look. Personally I pre-ordered mine yesterday from them.

Something else that’s got me hyped is this preview of the Sailor Stars fan dub! It’s a perfect example of why I think the DiC music cues work better (as much as I love the Japanese music). Can’t wait for this fourth episode.

It’s Friday again so that means Moon Sticks has a new strip online! This week features two of my favourite characters Alan and Anne (Ail and Anne)!

I was surfing around YouTube and found this fantastic clip someone made that mixes the voices from the English version of Sailor Moon S but adds the DiC music cues from the first two seasons and OMG it works really well! Again I love the Japanese music but the DiC music just makes it seem so much more exciting!
Someone who commented on the video made an interesting point that thet DiC music cue works with the English voice actors and the Japanese music cues work better with the Japanese VAs. What do you think?

And speaking of fan edits! Check out this new preview for a fan project that mixes existing anime footage extremely well to make a brand new storyline! Looks very promising!

New Sailor Moon DVDs! Sailor Moon Roundup and Moonie Music Monday

Sorry for the later than usual news roundup this week! As followers of my Twitter account will know, life just got in the way this week and I was simply too exhausted to compose the Roundup post which requires a lot of energy and time.

Kind of a good thing I waited though, as this morning there’s some HUGE Sailor Moon news from Japan! Let’s get right into it!

This post over on the Genvid forums alerted everyone to the fantastic news that there will be some new Sailor Moon DVD releases in Japan!

The first DVD Box Set contains episodes 1 – 24 from the first season and is due for release this year in December! (Just in time for Christmas!)

The second DVD Set<完> will come with episodes 25 – 46 which finishes off the first season and is due out sometime in 2010.

It is unclear if new masters will be used, though the original Japanese DVDs had remastered image and sound and looked fantastic.

Note: the Toei site seems to be down for “maintenance” right now so these pages are unavailable. All should be fine within 24 hours.

Also currently Amazon.jp isn’t listing these new releases but as soon as they do I’ll let you know.

Just yesterday I uploaded heaps of new Sailor Moon avatars (or icons). Almost over 100! You can find the new anime ones here and here as well as some cool manga inspired ones here. These are perfect for Twitter or discussion forums! Just don’t place them on your own site!

Some other big news this past week which I posted ASAP on Twitter was the closing down of ADV who was involved in the release of several Sailor Moon VHS and DVDs. Guess we can now completely rule them out of any Sailor Moon rerelease!

In similar news, Kodansha has ended their relationship with Tokyopop! This further confirms that Kodansha is looking to self publish their series overseas which includes Sailor Moon.
