Hello and welcome to Moonkitty.net, a Sailor Moon fansite dedicated to all incarnations of the series from the manga and anime to the musicals and live action tv series! ~ Your Fellow Moonie, Brad
Find the Sailor Moon information or media you're after with this site search. Remember you can browse the site via the links above.
I’ve been a fan of Maroon 5 for a long time and absolutely love this song (even sing it in karaoke sometimes!). Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon also seems to be losing in the poll for favourite version so thought some PGSM love was in order. What do you think?
Halloween’s almost here! Luckily Moon Sticks has a special Halloween special strip online! Funny as always!
And now some pretty HUGE news! The official Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary site has updated with something fantastic! Apparently on the 6th of December all five Japanese Sailor Moon voice actresses will be appearing for a special event celebrating the manga’s 20th anniversary in 2011! (Just a bit early, but hey, who cares!)
Wait, it gets better though! Toei is giving away 20 tickets to the event to 20 random fans who buy the first 20th Anniversary Box Set through their Toei site before November 3rd! I was going to buy my box set through Amazon.co.jp but looks like I may just order it through Toei (just for this first box though).
If you’re living outside of Japan, I wouldn’t recommend buying it directly from Toei as it’s a LOT more expensive than Amazon.co.jp.
Wild Speculation #1 It’s interesting that they mention the manga anniversary. Could this mean a reprint of the manga?
Wild Speculation #2 All five actresses reuniting is pretty huge. Normally this kind of thing happens when new animes are announced. It could simply be to promote the DVDs but December is normally the time of year in Japan when new animes are announced. Could they announce a new Sailor Moon anime or maybe a Dragonball Kai like remake? Fingers crossed!
In other news:
Speaking of Inner Sailors reuniting, the five main actresses from Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon have also reunited recently, though socially and Izumirika.com and Ayaka502.net have the photos and info!
Snowdrop has added some fantastic spirites to her already beautiful collection! There’s even a “Sailor Halloween”!
Some pretty big news today concerning the, what looks to be, return of Sailor Moon!
Almost immediately after the announcement that the rights to Sailor Moon have been released and that the show would once again be airing in Italy and Japan a press release was released announcing a brand new Sailor Moon mobile phone website for users in Japan.
The website offers Sailor Moon mobile phone ring tones (currently the Japanese theme, HEART MOVING and Sailor Star Song) as well as animated downloads and soon (not yet online) all 200 episodes of the anime for download to handsets.
If you have a phone that’s web capable, you can check out the site at it’s address: http://www.smoon.jp.
Some things worth mentioning is that in the footer of the page the PNP can be seen, showing that Naoko is still involved in the franchise and that there hasn’t been any major change in ownership. It’s also interesting to see that the Japanese logo for the series simply says “Sailor Moon”. There is no mention of “Pretty Soldier”, “Pretty Guardian”, etc.
Possible re-branding of the series? It’s possible (though by no means confirmed).
Exciting times!
Also in Sailor Moon news:
Sailor Moon was mentioned on the Australian TV show Good News Week. You can see a clip of it here.
My affiliate, Kirari-PGSM.net has just turned 4! It’s a great live action Sailor Moon site! Make sure to check it out if you haven’t already! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Likewise, UsagiandMamoruUniverse.com has just turn 8 years old!! Make sure to check out the site’s new layout and 8 years worth of content!
The third episode of the English Sailor Moon Sailor Stars dub is due out any day now. Prepare yourself with the episode preview!
Have you seen this interview yet? It took place last week and features the Japanese voice actress of Sailor Moon. Most of it’s just small talk though it mentions that besides Sailor Moon, her favourite characters are Sailor Uranus and Neptune because she feels the characters appeal to the adults who watch the show.
In site news, I’ve just added Sailor Moon television Air Times onto the right side navigation to make it easier for everyone to find out when Sailor Moon is returning and airing in their country. If your country isn’t there yet, that means that there has yet to be any information it airing yet. If and when such info is announced I will of course add it.
Strangely enough, even though the Sailor Moon anime finished about 10 years ago, this year has shown some huge activity in Sailor Moon fan productions!
The first one I found was Sailor Moon & the Return of the Shadows which is using green screen to make some full on cg scenes! They don’t seem to have a website, only the YouTube page unfortunately so there’s not much info available.
The next one I found was The Last Soldier by Fairydust Productions. They’ve got some very cool costumes, direction and special effects going on and a very interesting storyline!
Can’t wait!
The third one I found really surprised me! It’s a Sailor Mars Series that’s already up to it’s second episode! It’s based on the live action Sailor Moon series and continues the story of Sailor Mars using great special effects (ckeck out the transformation scene!!!), music and filming techniques that mimic the official series really closely! 5 stars!
If anyone knows of any other Sailor Moon fan films, let me know!
In other Sailor Moon fandom news, Moon Sticks has her latest comic up, this time featuring the Amazon Trio!
And the fantastic Stars Fan Dub has their second adaption of Sailor Stars online! This project is BRILLIANT! If you haven’t checked it out, do so now! Seriously, if Sailor Stars never gets dubbed officially I’d be more than happy to see these guys do it!
Moonkitty.net got three new affiliates this week; Star Dusting, Izumirika.com & Ayaka502.net! The later of which reports that Ayaka (PGSM’s Venus) and Keiko (PGSM’s Mars) will be starring together in a new Japanese tv drama! Keiko’s role seems to be one of the main roles (she’s HUGE now in Japan!) while Ayaka’s seems to be in more of an extra role. The show is called “Buzzer Beat ~ Gakeppuchi no Hero ~” or “Buzzer Beat ~ Hero on the Edge ~” and will air at 9pm Mondays starting in July.
What else happened this week? Ah, that’s right! The Official Sailor Moon Site updated with a new layout, game and mailbag. Interesting to note that one of the letters was from a non-Japanese person. Unfortunately the content itself was not so interesting.
Hope you had a great week and will have an even better weekend!
Something that’s become really noticeable since New Years is just how quite the Moonie (Sailor Moon Fan) community has become! Websites are nowhere near updating as much as they have this time last year and several major sites have shut down for good or changed their status to “Hiatus”. Come on everyone, let’s rally together and reinvigorate Sailor Moon’s presence online!!!
Throw up and avatar or two, make a wallpaper, finish writing those character profiles and update your links (something I need to do myself). The Deep Submerge Awards are on soon and it’s a great chance for all of us to clean up our sites make them shinier than any Star Seed we’ve ever seen!
YEAHHH!!!!
Woo, hoo! And now for the Sailor Moon Roundup featuring several sites that have updated this past week.
BSSMLA has some new updates concerning Sailor Moon convention panels! (Wish I could go!)
Kirari-PGSM.net has done some small updates to her layout. She didn’t mention them but I can tell!
Have been doing some cleaning up of my live action Sailor Moon episode guide and decided to rethink the way I link to the DVDs. While I love YesAsia, I’m aware that lots of you also buy from CDJapan and Amazon.jp as well so have started to add product links to these sites as well. Honestly I think this should be very useful as I found it really hard to find the DVDs on these sites! (How could a search for “Sailor Moon” have zero results?!?).
I was getting rather bored of using the same avatars lately so I created a whole new batch of live action Sailor Moon avatars using the menus from the live action DVDs!
On a fandom note, a friend of mine just got our tickets for a new Japanese movie, Heat Island which features not only the live action Sailor Moon’s Sailor Mars, Keiko Kitagawa but also the Sailor Moon musicals’ Tuxedo Mask, Yu Shirota!
Can’t wait for it!
